Multibeam Echosounder

For studies of wave induced sediment transport and local morphological changes around marine and coastal structures, a Multibeam Echosounder is used at the GWK. This system allows the contact-free continuous monitoring of bottom profiles in a high three-dimensional resolution.

Experimental studies in this field are the basis for the development of analytical design criteria and mathematical models for coastal engineering. Exact data are therefore of high importance.

The multibeam echosounder used in the GWK is specifically suited for the conducted studies due to its high precision measurements in shallow water.
