In the joint project "SeaStore: Diversity Enhancement Through Seagrass Restoration" coordinated by the Ludwig-Franzius-Institute, researchers from various scientific fields are pursuing the goal of developing promising methods for the resettlement of seagrass meadows in the southern Baltic Sea. In a first campaign, a total of more than 3,000 square meters were planted with 12,000 plants at three locations along the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast (Kiel, Maasholm and Geltinger Bucht). After a good year, the first signs of success can now be seen. Overall, the vegetation density has increased more than 25 times and is already almost as dense as a natural meadow.
