Official opening of GWK+

Today our new flagship, the Large Wave Current Flume GWK+, was finally officially opened after almost three years of renovation. After greetings from LUH President Volker Epping, TUBS President Angela Ittel, Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck, Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil and our Managing Director Torsten Schlurmann, the way led from the hall of miniGWK+ to the big brother next door. On June 30th, 2023, at 10:47 a.m., the time had finally come. After the two big red start buttons were pressed, the wave machine started moving and the first waves wandered through the GWK+. Nils Goseberg then led the delegation through the flume and the large thruster building and explained the new possibilities and the technical details of the facility.

A successful opening day is behind us and we look forward to many more successful research days with our new Large Wave Current Flume GWK+.
